Ex-pope says God told him to resign

Ex-pope Benedict said that a “mystical experience” with God led him to resign. He went on to say that God had given him  an “absolute desire” to resign and devote his life to prayer. Benedict resigned early this year in February.

The former pope is reported to have made these comments to Catholic news agency Zenit a few weeks ago.
