Christians Need To Stop Shaming Trump Supporters

There are so many “holier than thou” Christian conservatives out there telling others that to support Trump is basically the same as being a bad person yourself. They claim that Donald Trump is such an awful, wretched person that they could never in a million years support his candidacy.

While Trump may not be a choir boy (no one ever said that he was), there are many reasons to still vote for him. By the way, God himself has–and presumably still does–use unrighteous people to accomplish his will. (Habakkuk 1:5-11)

Below I’ve listed some of the reasons to vote for Trump.

The unborn

There is no more important issue for most Christians than the protection of the unborn. Over a million abortions take place in the U.S. each year. If Hillary’s elected, nothing will be done to change that. Trump, on the other hand has taken a solidly pro-life stance.

“I am opposed to abortion except for rape, incest and life of the mother. I oppose the use of government funds to pay for abortions.” – Donald Trump

For many Christians, the fact that Trump will work to limit abortions is enough to get their vote.

The Supreme Court

Whoever wins the presidency will likely appoint several new judges. Scalia’s seat on the court still hasn’t been filled since he died in February of this year. That means that if Hillary wins, she’ll be able to tilt the court into a liberal majority. If Trump wins, he’ll at least be able to balance the court with a conservative Scalia replacement.

The Supreme Court is (or at least should be) an extremely important voting issue for any Christian. The court has an immense amount of power to change things in this country. As we just saw recently, the court has even given itself the authority to redefine an institution created by God.

Second Amendment

Firearms are an American tradition, but Christian conservatives are one block of the population that really, really like their guns. Our second amendment rights would no doubt be under siege with another Clinton presidency. Similar to the law her husband enacted, Hillary supports a ban on “assault weapons” and other gun control regulations including tougher background checks.

It’s clear that Trump is much more friendly toward the second amendment than Clinton. The NRA endorsed him, so obviously he’s said some pretty pro-gun things and his campaign has remained very pro-gun.

Vote for his Policies

I’m stopping my list with the three reasons I have above. I think they’re the most important issues of this election, but I encourage you to look at the other issues and see where the candidates stand.

I’ll leave you with this. Voting for Trump doesn’t mean you’re endorsing the man’s character, it means you’re choosing his policies over those of Clinton. Don’t let some stupid tape of Trump saying gross things keep you from turning this country in a conservative direction. This election will have repercussions for decades to come.

I know you’ve heard this before, but if you’re a conservative and don’t vote for Trump, you are assisting the election of Hillary Clinton.
