Fix these things, Medium

I love Medium. I was one of the first to get to use Medium before it was open to everyone. There are just a few things that I think Medium should add to make it even better.

Firstly, Medium needs a iOS and Android app. One that lets you compose, check your stats, edit collections, and read beautiful, mobile optimized articles. I’m sure the great people at Medium are already working on an app, but I thought I’d mention it anyway. Another thing that I’d like to see is multiple Medium accounts. Something like Google accounts where you have a selection of your different accounts to quickly change between.

Even though this would be useful for me, I understand why a website wouldn’t want to implement this kind of account management system. Still, there should be an easier way to switch Medium accounts. Going along the same lines as the previous point, Medium should allow for users to register on Medium without a Twitter account. They could achieve this through allowing Medium.com user accounts, or by letting users register with Facebook, Google, or other social accounts. I see no reason why Medium wouldn’t be adding this feature in the near future.

I’d like to see Medium steer away from Twitter. One thing I would like is if the user profile urls could just be mdium.com/username without the @ sign that is currently being used.

With all that said, Medium is still one heck of a website. If you don’t have an account yet, you should get one now!

Update: Medium has released an iOS app, but it’s really not a great app. All you can do is read articles.

2nd update: Medium has finally, finally released a good iOS app. You can now write stories from your phone. Yay!
