I did in fact walk out of Solo, and failed to finish the film. That is, the first time I went to watch it. It’s a long story, but basically the reason is that I went without my fiancé the first time. She asked “wyd” just as I was sitting down for the movie. We then began to exchange a few texts until finally, I walked out; maybe fifteen minutes after it started.

Lesson learned. The weekend after this debacle, I finally got to see the whole film  (with the ‘ole ball and chain). I have to say, I wasn’t expecting much. I had heard from some friends that it wasn’t that great. And I had seen articles and ratings that made it seem like it’d just be an OK movie.

But those people led me astray. I absolutely loved the movie. It was better than I could have expected.

I’m not going to give away a bunch of spoilers. I know a lot of people have yet to see the film, so I don’t want to ruin it for anyone. But it was really good.

I thought I’d hate it. Especially because Donald Glover is in it and plays Lando. But everything really worked. You have to see it for yourself.

I know the box office numbers were low, but I think that just has to do with promotion. A lot of people I’ve talked to have said they didn’t even know it came out. That’s not the film’s fault.
