The same Congressman who co-authored the now infamous Patriot Act is working on a bill that will reform the National Security Agency. Jim Sensenbrenner has been working on legislation that will limit the NSA phone collection and the host of other controversial collection programs. The bill is primarily aimed to dramatically change the way the NSA and other agencies are allowed to collect information. Sensenbrenner has called the bill the Uniting and Strengthening America by Fulfilling Rights and Ending Eavesdropping, Dragnet-Collection, and Online Monitoring Act, or the USA Freedom Act.

Sensenbrenner’s bill is expected to be matched in the Senate by Vermont Democrat, Patrick Leahy. Dianne Feinstein is expected to be a main voice in opposition to the proposed legislation.
