All right, let’s talk about rogue one, because no one else is doing it.

First I want to say that I know my thoughts on this movie are unpopular. I think Rogue One is probably the most overrated movie of the year.

I saw the movie last weekend just like everyone else. I was happy to see another Star Wars movie, but I always had my reservations about Rogue One.

From the start I thought rogue one sounded a little too gimmicky. It seemed like something designed to earn a lot of money rather than actually furthering the Star Wars universe in a meaningful way.

Unfortunately, watching the movie didn’t convince me otherwise. I don’t believe the film added much to the Star Wars universe and I’d even say it was unnecessary. I always thought the idea for this film was not a very important one. After all, the story was so unimportant that it was simply put into the intro to episode four.

Have there been worse story ideas for big movies? Of course! All the time. But this bears the Star Wars name, so it should be held to a higher standard. I love Star Wars, but I don’t love Rogue One.

I think the whole idea of Star Wars anthology movies is gross. I see them as nothing more than money-making piles of Disney crap. They’re planning a possible Boba Fett movie, and the young Han Solo movie has already been confirmed.

I’m glad most people like the idea of these anthology films. I’m happy that Star Wars is such a resilient franchise but overall, I could do without these anthology films.
