Worship Isn’t About Us

let’s stop making worship services about us

This article is not meant to condemn. I’m as guilty as anyone else is on this subject. It’s just meant to be a reminder on what worship is really about.

I’ve been a musician since I was young, and so I have an ear for good music. I’ve also helped out in worship at different churches throughout my life.

I became pretty critical of worship music over time. And at my current position at my church, we’re asked to be critical of ourselves. We are always wanting to get better, so sometimes it’s hard not to dissect a worship service.

Here’s part of a teaching by Francis Chan that I heard. It really helped me change the way I see worship.

Let’s try not to be so critical of worship teams and how they sound or what songs they picked. Let’s focus on worshiping God.
