Is Everything That Happens God’s Will?

Is everything that happens God’s will? Many Christians believe that everything that happens to us in life is God’s will. Every time someone dies or something bad happens, that means that God willed those things to happen.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

– Romans 8:28 (NIV)

On its face, this verse makes it seem as though God works for the good of those who believe in Him. But who’s to say that some people aren’t meant to have certain afflictions? Perhaps we, with our limited understanding just simply can’t comprehend why or how a bad situation is actually good.

While many Christians follow the above line of thinking, I don’t happen to hold such a belief. If God is in control of everything, then he (in my mind) cannot be a loving God. I believe that he has given dominion of this world to the Satan because of our disobedience.

I think God does work in every situation to work for our good. But that doesn’t mean he causes bad things to happen. He can simply make the best of a situation.
