Google Play Music iOS app is surprisingly good

I downloaded the Google Play Music app simply because I have a Nexus 7 that I use Play Music for and wanted to access my library from my iPhone. I wasn’t expecting much; mostly because I’m not very fond of the way the Android music app works. However, after using it for a bit, I really like it and think you should give it a try.

Not only does the app look great, it also works well. Your music library loads surprisingly fast (depending on your internet speeds). Navigation within the app is also very good — the smoothness of Play Music was refreshing.

The only problem I had with the app was jumpy Airplay streaming. Besides that, this app really has no issues.

Just like as on Android, you can download and store your music locally. Of course, that will quickly eat up your storage, assuming you download more than a few.

Does Google Play Music pose a real risk to Apple’s built-in music player? Probably not. But for some people, having a huge online library of music that doesn’t take up space on your phone is a Plus. Get it?

To recap: this app does what it should. It looks and works well, but not perfectly.
