The U.S. Government was reopened last night after Congress passed a bill that raised the debt ceiling and ends the Government shutdown. The Senate passed the bill 81-18.
This bill will only keep the Government open until January 15th, 2014. It also raises the debt limit until February 7th, 2014.
Republicans were trying to weaken the new Affordable Care Act by using Federal funding as a bartering tool. The fight in Congress, from the start seemed like it was going to go badly for the GOP. Early in the debate, President Obama said he would veto any legislation that would defund Obamacare.
