Gamers have been connecting keyboards to their consoles for years, only now, it seems like Microsoft is jumping on the bandwagon.
Xbox chief Phil Spencer had a conversation with fans on Twitter, and revealed just a hair too much information, saying Microsoft engineers are working on mouse and keyboard support for Xbox One. There seems to be a lot of this going on, with people accidentally leaking information. Whatever the case is, the Xbox One has allowed basic keyboard inputs, but it’s never allowed a mouse, well not officially, but we’ll touch on that in a minute.
No one knows how much functionality will be integrated, or when this will be available, but several publications have already reached out to Microsoft, hoping to get more details.
This isn’t the first time a console has supported a mouse and keyboard this generation. Third-party adapters definitely exist, even though they have a rather small niche, comparatively speaking that is. Getting compatibility from Microsoft themselves, however, has never occurred, and would make setting up the devices easier.
How beneficial do you think this compatibility will be? Clearly, they’re trying to make the connection between Windows 10 and the Xbox One even stronger, so what does this mean for the future?
